The Elkton Alliance describes its Small Business Saturday market as "a much smaller and more intimate event," with "just 10 carefully selected vendors" and "a different atmosphere from Fall Fest." In most years that line just compares the Alliance's biggest event with one of its smallest. In 2026, Fall Fest was canceled, so downtown Elkton's one large street fair didn't happen, and the holiday calendar now has the season to itself.
That calendar is built differently from Fall Fest. It doesn't fill Main Street for a single Saturday. It spreads people across three evenings, one Saturday morning and several addresses: the open street, one room on East Main, the Christmas tree, and the counters of downtown merchants. If you live a few minutes from North and Main, you'll get the most out of it by treating it as four short outings.
The Alliance had planned Fall Fest for two days. A kickoff car show was set for Friday, September 25, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., and the festival itself for Saturday, September 26, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The listing promised more than 100 vendors, live music, street food, community performances, a rock climbing wall, kids' activities, and a Friday night of cars, music and food. A volunteer committee runs it.
The Fall Fest page now says "EVENT CANCELLED." The Alliance gave weather as the reason, and the Havre de Grace Beacon's Cecil events calendar carried the same notice. Under the Alliance's weather policy, the event goes ahead in ordinary rain and is called off only when severe weather puts safety at risk.
October still had the Halloween Parade on October 23 and the Spooktacular Fall Festival and Drug Take Back on October 24. Neither is meant to pack a hundred vendor tents into downtown, and that's the gap the next six weeks are left to fill.
| Date | Event | Time | Where it happens |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wed., Nov. 25 | Turkey Trot Bar Crawl | Evening, no set hours posted | Downtown streets, open for alcohol carry |
| Sat., Nov. 28 | Jingle & Mingle Artisan Fair | 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. | Elkton Alliance building, 101 E. Main St. |
| Fri., Dec. 4 | Christmas Tree Lighting | 5:30 to 8 p.m. | Downtown Elkton |
| Fri., Dec. 11 | Christmas Cookie Throwdown | 5:30 to 8 p.m. | Downtown merchants and the Elkton Christmas tree |
Each event uses a different part of downtown, moving from the open streets on Thanksgiving eve to a single room on East Main, then to the tree, and finally back out into the shops for the cookie tasting. Spread over 17 days, that covers more of downtown than one big Saturday did.
The Alliance's listing for the Turkey Trot Bar Crawl is short. It invites people downtown the night before Thanksgiving for food and drink specials and says "the streets are open for alcohol carry." No hours or participating bars are posted yet.
Earlier years give a sense of the format. In a past Thanksgiving-eve preview, the Cecil Daily called the crawl a relaxed gathering that supports local businesses, with North and Main streets open for carry from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Last year's crawl fell on November 26, 2025, the same night of the week. Check the Alliance page in the days before for this year's hours.
The downtown food and drink addresses are close together. Elk River Brewing is at 112 East Main St. Legends on Main sits at 102 West Main St. in the former Spork Cafe space, which changed hands and took the new name, as the Cecil Daily's business year-in-review reported. A short walk west, It's Masala Time is at 112 West Main St. All of them are within a few blocks of the North and Main intersection.
Three days later, the season moves indoors. Jingle & Mingle runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on November 28 inside the Elkton Alliance, Inc. building at 101 E. Main Street, with 10 artisan vendors. The Alliance calls it a curated, cozy market with a limited number of spaces. That is about a tenth of the vendor count Fall Fest advertised.
Ten tables make it a short visit, which leaves time to walk East Main afterward. The Palette & The Page is a few doors down at 120 East Main St. The Alliance describes it as a gallery for local artists, authors, poets and musicians, and the Cecil Daily reported that it changed ownership in 2024. Art Space on Main, listed in the Elkton Arts & Entertainment District directory, is a working pottery studio, gallery and gift shop. For coffee, Bing's Bake & Brew is a bakery and coffee shop at 124 West Main St. Rise 'N Grind Cafe, which the Vanderhoef family opened at 123 North St. with coffee, breakfast sandwiches and baked goods, is around the corner.

The Christmas Tree Lighting on December 4 runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m. downtown. The Alliance lists Santa visits for kids, bags of treats, and carolers. Its 2025 listing promised the same three things, so this is a steady tradition. Older coverage shows how big a downtown Christmas night here can get. The Cecil Daily's account of an old-fashioned Elkton Christmas described free Clydesdale wagonette rides from about 6 to 8 p.m., Elkton High School quartets, and carolers from Immaculate Conception Church performing around North and Main.
A week later, the Christmas Cookie Throwdown takes the season back into the shops. From 5:30 to 8 p.m. on December 11, the Alliance invites people to "visit our downtown merchants to sample cookies and vote for your favorite," and to take a photo in front of the Elkton Christmas tree. In a past preview, the Cecil Daily described area restaurants and merchants competing for Best Christmas Cookies, with the public voting.
Of the four, the Throwdown is set up most like Fall Fest was. It needs a crowd moving from door to door, and it only works if people walk into the businesses. The difference is that the vendors are downtown's own storefronts, not visitors in tents.
Both Fridays depend on volunteers, too. The tree lighting and Cookie Throwdown pages each link a volunteer interest form.
The Alliance calendar has gaps of a week or more, and Elkton Music Hall at 107 North St. fills some of them. The venue holds 300, can be set up standing or seated, and says it books shows three to four nights a week year-round, mixing national touring acts with local and regional artists. According to the Music Hall's site, Laura Cantrell plays November 12 and Stewart Copeland brings "Have I Said Too Much" on November 18. Both dates land in the quiet stretch before Thanksgiving eve, so downtown has something going on most weeks from mid-November to mid-December.
If you plan to go to all four Alliance events and add a show, this order works with the calendar:
Event details can change before each date, so check elktonalliance.org the week of each event.
